Remote control ride on train

Good morning,

My name is Jeff and I am hoping the forum may be able to help me out with a project of mine. Below is a photo of an electric train I built. I am hoping to remote control it. The controller is a 24 volt dynamic ds161(from a wheelchair) it powers two permanent magnet motors. Speed is controlled by a potentiometer, and forward is controlled with an on off switch. Currently I am hoping to have a potentiometer, forward/reverse and a horn on a remote.

I have experience building and flying model airplanes, but this one stumps me thus far.

Thank you kindly for any help!

Your train picture didn’t come through :frowning:

You can replace the wheelchair control box with any adequately rated ESC, (Electronic Speed Control), and couple that to a standard R/C receiver. On my robot Jazzy, I’m using motors from a Jazzy wheelchair and a Sabertooth ESC to run them. Works fine with no issues. The motors are designed to run at 24V but I am currently running them at 12V.
