Hello all, i hope you can help me.
I have a electric wheelchair ( with 2 dc motor 150 watt 3000rpm ) connected with a Sabertooth Dual 60A 6V-30V Regenerative Motor Drive and i am using rc to control it. It works but the speed is to high and i want to use a brake.
So how can i reduce the maximum speed ?
The motors have a brake on it, but how can i use them? I tryed to connect them directly on the motor connection on the sabertooth, but that did not work.
Hello @twannie and welcome to our forum!
Which R/C receiver/transmitter are you using?
Can you take a photo of your wiring? And a photo of DIP switches?
Hello ,
I am using the carson reflex stick multi pro with the receiver that came with it.
The DIP switches are all in the right place of on on on of on and i mannaged to reduce the speed with the describe software.
But sometimes when i put the power on 1 of the wheel start to drive at once. Can you tell me what the correct way for connecting the wires is ?
I am using a Battery Disconnector Blackout Switch for disconnecting the power from the batteries to the sabertooth and i have put it in the - wire between battery and sabertooth.
Should i put that in the + wire ? And should i power the RC receiver independent from the sabertooth?
Thanks for your help.
Hey @twannie , your setup should be wired something like this:
Regarding power on and starting the motor. I think something has to be flat and stable when that sabertooth turns on, because it’s probably calibrating signals and initializing.
Regarding battery disconnector. Typically the negative terminal is ground. So if you put the switch, fuse there (on the return path) then when the switch is open the whole circuit will be sitting at high potential. Tt won’t be “on” but if someone were to touch something they could get hurt as they now provide a path from “high” to ground.
Hey ,
the wirng is excatly like the drawing, so that is ok. I wil put a battery disconnecter in the + ( possitive ) wire also so that both are disconnected.
What is dont understand is how to power on the rc receiver bofore the sabertooth when the rc receiver is getting the power from the sabertooth.
Or should i connect only the ground of the rc receiver to the sabertooth and us a external 5v + for the rc receiver. In this case i put the battery disconnector only in the possitve + wire and wire the ground directly to the sabertooth.
Hey @twannie,
It should be OK if your receiver is getting power from sabretooth like described on a schematic drawing.
