We are testing the Hagisonic StarGazer’s capabilities on the ground before mounting the landmarks. We have tried to get a height reading by orienting everything horizontal and moving the StarGazer closer and farther from the landmark within the 4.5-6.5 m range. The StarGazer is connected to the computer with a serial to USB. However, the readings we are getting are very inaccurate. At 450 cm, the StarGazer is providing readings of about 160 cm. Is there any callibration that needs to be done to fix this?
You may be able to find out more information about the StarGazer in the user manuals found here and here. We have contacted the manufacturer for more information.
Please verify the type of landmark you are using. If you need a different type (for higher ceilings), please check here to purchase them. You can check here (page 4) for more details on the relationship between ceiling height and landmark type/size.
