I am building a vertical hatch system that measures 2000 mm wide × 760 mm tall and weighs 30 kg.
The hinges of the system are placed on the top for vertical opening.
For opening and closing, I would like to use linear actuators, with the bottom part attached 250 mm below the top of the hatch.
According to calculations, the required lift force is 890 N, and the stroke length is 300 mm.
The actuators need to be waterproof.
Could you please recommend a suitable product for this application?
300mm stroke is around 12 inches, and 890Nm is around 650lbs.
Knowing that, I would recommend Firgelli Automation 12VDC, 12-Inch Stroke 1000lb Force Linear Actuator:
It has IP43 rating so it means it is protected against sprays of water up to 60 degrees from the vertical. Limited ingress permitted for three minutes. Not sure if this is sufficient for your use case?
