Recommend a wheeled base platform with high strength?

Hi all, I’m trying to figure out a good rc platform to use to drive (push/pull) a small children’s shopping cart around for a commercial. I’ve looked on the platform page here but all of the platforms I saw listed are currently unavailable.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I’m very unfamiliar with robot parts and how to determine their specs, but I need it to be strong enough to be able to move the cart, small enough (likely in the range of 14" x 14" or less) to hide under the cart. The cart would be moving relatively slowly, it is slowly driving through grocery store isles.

Any advice or links to available products would be very greatly appreciated! Please let me know if you need more information!

Thanks!!

Dazu

Hello @DAZU and welcome to the RobotShop forum,

You can find all the wheeled platforms available in the store here.

but I need it to be strong enough to be able to move the cart

It would be great if you could estimate how much the cart (and the groceries) weigh, that way you can calculate the payload, and with that in mind choose a platform with strong enough motors. Some platforms list the max payload in the specs, however, some of them list the max torque that the motors included can provide so perhaps this tool come in handy:

I hope that helps!

@DAZU Welcome to the RobotShop Community. To add to Geraldine’s reply (indeed, you should ideally do some calculations), in terms of price vs. value, consider:

It’s slightly beyond 14" and 15.2" long but includes everything you need.

If the cart is really light weight:

(You need a battery and charger with this).
