RC Switch Flipper on a Stair Lift

I need to build a robot to flip a switch on a stair lift by remote control.

The stair lift at my moms house has broken and the people who come to fix it are a few months out at least. Basically, you have to press the switch on the lift and the one on the staircase at the same time or the lift wont move. In the meantime, I was thinking about installing an rc robot that would press the switch up or down at the top of the staircase.

What I was thinking was a steering servo hooked up to an rc car controller and have the steering on the controller move the switch up or down. However, I’m having trouble finding parts online anywhere. Does anyone know of any good places to buy parts? Would a steering servo even be able to press a switch like that? It requires a bit of pressure to hold it.

I also don’t want it to continuously hold the switch in case its sending power through the lift still, so I was thinking steering servo so it would return to 0 everytime.

Any help is appreciated, thanks guys!

Hello @Tidyshark and welcome to the community
I don’t think that the servo would support enough pressure to press the button.
Have you thought of linear actuators? i think it can support such force.
Also you can use any sort of solenoid actuators.
Hopefully this could help.
