I have picked out some components and I would like to confirm that they are comparable for constructing a basic remote controlled car type robot that will be controlled from a smart phone. Will the Arduino UNO, L293D motor driver, and 1 sheeld correctly interface and work for this purpose?

Should be compatible and straightforward.
