I tried to install the software Phidgetbridge in a corporate computer and I get a message saying that the activation failed. See attached picture. Could you please let me know which port number needs to be open to activate the software since our firewall is active all the time and it can’t be deactivated.
Hi,
All FlowBotics-based app and FlowBotics Studio itself make two connections on activation. Both are HTTP/80, one to google.com and one to our activation server, u.flowbotics.com.
Please note anti-virus and anti-malware software can also block the connection, not just a firewall.
We’ve add a small amount of customers have issues where some security software (or transparent hardware on their network) filtered non-browser HTTP/80 connections that are unknown by default. This may be your case, too.
We hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Thank you for your reply. I have resolved the activation issue and now I am having another issue with the readings on the application. The application is reading the sensor values in mV, how I can change it to the real force. Please let me know.
Hi,
Glad to hear it is working. Do you mind sharing what was causing the activation issue / how it was resolved? This may be helpful in the future for other members of the RobotShop community who have similar issues and find this forum topic.
Indeed, the software obtains raw values from the sensor board directly and then provides them in the interface. From there, you can use the options in the bottom right corner to log the data into a file at a set interval.
Once you have your data, you can process it however you want. Typically, since the data from a load cell is typically linear, a simple two-point calibration should be enough to obtain the force measurement out of the raw data.
Usually the linear equation is obtained from the raw value at a force of 0 (no force) and a second raw value point with a known force (usually around or near the maximum of your load cell’s range). This should give you a good approximation of the force based on the raw value.
We have an example in the following blog article of doing just that. You can view it here.
If you wish to have the application do this for you directly, you would need to modify it. The app comes with the source for it, so that you can modify it for your needs. To do so, you will need [RB-Dsp-06].
Sincerely,
I am having the same issue when entering my activation key it says the same failure message.
I tried to go to https://www.robotshop.com/uflowbotics/ but it says “not found”
Any help is appreciated.
