I would like to drill into the end of the 6mm shaft and thread it so I could use an end screw to hold a wheel on to achieve a free-wheel situation. The idea is similar to the way the bearing on a router bit is held on by a small end screw. I’m using a 60mm omni wheel and respective hub. Is the end screw idea the best way to achieve this? Thank you.
We really do not advise drilling into the hardened steel shaft and trying to tap it. The hub should have a set screw to hold it to the shaft. If you want a wheel which is simply free spinning, why need a motor at all?
It’s for demonstrative purposes only. I want to be able to loosen the set screw and let the wheel turn by hand.
You then need a 6mm shaft collar which looks like this. You would place it at the end of the shaft, assuming your hub is not too long. Unfortunately we do not carry a 6mm version
Yeah, but unfortunately the hub ends flush with the axle. Thanks anyways.
