RB-Elf-164 relay Module

i’d like to order this part and here my question,

  • for 12 or 24 V supply do I need to have a current limiter resistor as the relay shows 5VDC.
  • could you suggest any proxy sensor that work well with this board. I am trying to control a crane movements.

Thanks

Hi,

The RB-Elf-164 is a 5V TTL 8 Channel Relay Module. We have entered the 12V version to our product catalog which should be soon available under the product code RB-Elf-260. You can also use a voltage divider to convert your 12V or 24V to 5V and use the 5V version.
By “proxy sensor” do you mean PIR Sensor or Proximity Sensor ?

Thanks for clarification.

  • Compare to the other 5VDC relay modules which one would you recommend? My out put will be linked to a PLC.
  • Proxy type sensor.

proximity type.

Hi,

Could you provide further details on your application, maybe a diagram or some pictures to help us understand what you are planning to accomplish.

considering your response that RB-Elf operating on 5 VDC, I’ve ordered & received RB-Ite-70 as both look like to be the same.
The goal is to install 4 limit sensors to show if the overhead crane is parked at any corner on the track “home”. I do not want to send the status signals directly to the PLC which is connected to the main welding/cutting robot. It is important for the robot to know the crane is parked at home and is not around. I am using this relay module as an interface/buffer to the PLC.
The environment is arc welding/plasma.
The sensors could be either proximity or mechanical.
please advise the type and should I use shielded wires or not.

Hi,

Please note that it could be dangerous to use hobby grade equipments with a real industrial overhead crane.
You can probably try using some roller lever micro switches as limit switches but usually industrial limit switches are used for this type of application.
For example :

Or, you can use the Gravity Adjustable Infrared Sensor Switch with its Mounting Bracket

Hi,
For limit switch I’m going to order SZL-VL-A made by Honeywell. But is there any problem with RB-Ite-70, do you have more reliable relay board suggestion?
Thanks

Hi,

RB-Ite-70 should work. It’s an 8 channel relay board with 8 x 5V Relays that can switch up to 10Amps at 30VDC.
