Is it possible to get this gearbox with either no keyway or just a portion of the shaft keyed ?
In my application I need to seal the shaft through the housing that I am mounting it in. A simple automotive oil seal is going to work but not when the keyway goes all the way through.

Banebots offers customization for their gearboxes, though do not specify if they offer different shaft types. We have contacted them and will get back to you here as soon as we receive a reply.
Two follow-up questions - what length shaft do you need, and how many units would you need?
The standard 1.5inch length is fine. Our use is very small, I am looking at only 3 pieces currently for beta testing. Production would be less than 100 units / year.
Still have not heard back as to whether this gearbox is available with no keyway in the output shaft ?
Need to know this for sure ASAP as we will have to order 4 units very soon.
Our sincere apologies. We have followed-up and will get back to you here as soon as we receive a reply from the manufacturer.
We apologize again for the delay. We see you have contacted us via the support center so we will take it from there.
We do apologize, but it seems like a custom option is not available at this time. If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know. Sorry again for the delay and any inconvenience.

I am very disappointed in the responses on this forum. Not only is there not a CUSTOM option of having the shaft without the keyway, but the RB-BAN-279 evidently is NOT EVEN AVAILABLE ANY LONGER !
The RB-BAN-288 is evidently the substitute but I have not been able to get any dimensional drawings on it so that I can design it into my product ! I DO need to know where the mounting holes are in relation to the front face, overall length, etc.

We can still order RB-Ban-279, but it has unfortunately been removed from the website. Should you still wish to order, we can provide you wit ha bid. Unfortunately we seem to be having communication issues with the manufacturer at this time which we are doing our best to resolve. Although nothing about product dimensions were raised in this thread, if you’d like, we can physically measure the mounting hole locations using a vernier, though unfortunately the manufacturer has yet to get back to us with the data. Would you like us to provide our own measurements? We greatly apologize for any inconvenience.

Yes I would like a bid on the RB-BAN-279. We have very small requirement at the moment. I was looking to build 4 units with the RB-BAN-279 gearbox and the RS-775 motor to give just a bit more torque. Unfortunately due to time constraints and no reply from RobotShop saying we could even order the 279, we ended up purchasing the RB-BAN-238 and RB-Wtc-06. Depending on time frame and if we could return these parts, maybe we could get the RB-BAN-279 and the RS-775 motor. Most likely I suppose it will have to wait until the next build to get those.
Along with the bid please let me know who I have to contact to make sure if the parts I want are available or not.
Thanks
Jim
I have passed this along to our sales department and they should be reaching out shortly.
