I am looking for a Raspberry Pi 4b camera to install on my 3d printer. It needs to focus within a few inches and see about a foot an 1/2 with the widest capability possible
Hello @RobotJR and welcome to the RobotShop forum,
I suggest checking the Cameras & Vision Sensors section of the store, a good option would be a wide-angle camera, for example:
Keep in mind that this is a drop-in replacement so you would also need the camera board
Or you could get a camera module with a fisheye lens, for example:
Thanks for responding. I have a Raspberry Pi 4b and I am looking for a recommendation on which camera would focus near by. The camera is to be installed on a 3D printer frame and will need to be able to see most of the bed within focus. The bed is 350x350mm. Think of it this way, I want a camera that when placed 2 inches from the bed, on the flat plane, it can focus to objects within a distance of 200 mm and will need to have the widest view I can get. I am not an expert in cameras so I am looking for assistance
Ok! If you need the camera to focus within 2 inches then you won’t be able to use a standard fixed focus camera because it can not get sharp focus and the image will look burry, but a good option could be this one:
This camera has a 160°D, 120°H FOV and adjustable focus.
Another option would be:
This camera helps to focus the object in close range from 5cm~30cm and is controlled by the software without manually adjust the lens barrel. Again, this is a drop-in replacement so you would also need the camera board from the original Raspberry Pi Camera Module. However this camera has a 65°H x 51°V FOV. To get a wide field of view you would need a fisheye lens. To cover 350mm from within two inches you would need around 150° FOV.
