R2D2 type sounds from an Atom Pro

Here is some code that was given to me by Mark Fedasiuk. It’s does a pretty good job of mimicking good old R2D2. Enjoy…
speaker con p9
dir var byte
val var word
val = 1
dir = 1

main
if val > 10 OR val < 1 then
dir = dir * -1
endif
val = val + dir
sound speaker, [100\val*1000]
goto main
Cute. I’ll have to try it. No random numbers?

Are you implying that R2D2 was just making random noises? Dude! He was communicating. If someone from another culture visits your area and makes a whole bunch of noises you don’t happen to understand… are they random or do you just not happen to know their language?

:laughing: :stuck_out_tongue: :unamused:

What I find amazing was in 1977 they were able to create cool electronic effects such as R2D2’s random beeps and whistles. Sorry, I don’t know the “RANDOM” language you speak of… :stuck_out_tongue:

If he was communicating where’s the protocol? We needs ta make an interpreter and watch the old movies again. LOL

My guess is the protocol was defined a long time ago in a galaxy far far away…

Here is a site that translates R2D2… lol Only reason I know of it is that we do the life size heads for Granite Earth. The owner pointed me to the site.

Wow. You would think that at some point I would just stop being surprised at the things people find on the internet… :laughing:

oh yeah? well I found this website that let you ask the internet questions and you get sometimes scary answers: For example I asked it this “the next word war will happen on” and the web bot finshed with this:

“the next word war will happen on the day of the dead el d”

The day of the dead? could this mean the day after a nuclear attack?

I am not a convinced the internet is an oracle but it is fun to play with.

One word: Zombies. :laughing:

Heh! find me an R2D2 to Klingon translator…

:shock: Wouldn’t that translator be like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters?! The end of the world as we know it! Star Wars and Star Trek! :lol:

star trek is a bunch of pansies compared to star wars. I saw a top ten reasons why list at some point and the two things that I remember off hand are “weapons in star wars are rarely if ever set to stun”, and “light sabers!”.

oh yeah and the enterprise needs a crew of 400 to go to light speed while the millenium falcon needs r2d2 and a wookie. :laughing: :unamused:
