R.c. snowbot glitch

HI,
New to the forum. I’m having a glitching problem.
The snowbot will run then stop. The transmitter and receiver are still linked. I turn off the snowbot power then back on and that seems to fix it. Or, the bot will start spinning in a circle until I manually turn off the power. I turn it back on and then seems fine. Not sure where to start diagnosing.
A description of the bot:
A few months back I built a r.c. snowplow. The motors and actuators are used wheelchair parts bought on ebay. The electronics are Sabertooth esc 2x32 for the 4 drive motors and a Sabertooth esc 2x25 for the plow and lift actuators. The tracks and wheels are from a used Craftman tracked snowblower. I made the housing using 1/4" aluminum plate.

Hi there,

Really nice project and welcome to the forum.

You may try to power up the robot without powering the remote (transmitter).
If the robot doesn’t act weird, this means that you can isolate this whole section and focus on the transmitter section.

What remote and receiver are you using?

Figured it out. I was using a volt meter, which showed 24v, but not the status of the batteries. The batteries were pretty drained as it turned out. After a full charge all is good. I ordered a AiLi battery monitor volt/amp/voltage current meter which will also display the state of the batteries.

I did swap in another transmitter/receiver with the same results. Took me awhile to remember my r.c. snowcats do the same thing when not charged.

The transmitter is a Futuba T6EX with a R617FS receiver. It has 4 controllable channels, I installed a toggle switch on one channel so I can control either the up/down blade or the tray tilt.
