I’m looking at the Shapeoko Nomad and the Boxzy right now. The first claims to be quiet but I can’t find any info on the latter. The second bedroom in my apartment is a workroom and I need a very quiet mill. Can anybody comment on either one, or even better, compare the noise of the two? Simple things like placing the machine on a vibration absorbing matte would help but without being near the actual machines it’s hard to judge the noise level. All the Youtube videos are useless for evaluating noise.
thanks
Hey @shadoowphile
Which Boxzy are you looking at exactly? If you want, I can contact the manufacturer to verify if they do have a decibel rating on the Boxzy.
Meanwhile, I’ll contact Carbide3D to ask for the decibel rating.
Hey,
Carbide3D answered already :
We have this page:
https://carbide3d.com/nomad/specs/
There is this video that has a moment of what homing sounds like.

I find no specific audio information at any other retailers of the Nomad either.
The other side of this is a loaded question because the audio leave will depend on the cutter, the material and the holding method so it’s not a fixed answer.
I hope this helps.
