Hi! I'm a designer working in the Open Source Technology Center at Intel and I'm currently studying about robot simulators in order to improve their usability. I would love to hear from you about your experiences in this area:
Which simulators have you already used? What are the ones you currently use and why?
What kind of routine do you usually simulate? Why is simulation useful for you in projects?
In which moment of the project do you use the simulator? Do you use it during the entire process, or at specific steps?
Thanks in advance,

Simulations
A bit late to reply, but if you’re subscribed you should get this reply. Many people in hobby robotics tend not to use simulation software - simply getting the robot to move is most important, and most projects start simply with a 2WD rover, a microcontroller and sensors. Getting to know a simulation software, inputting the right parameters, developing the code, troubleshooting it etc. tends to be quite a bit more advanced than developing the code directly for a microcontroller. R&D institutions and universities tend to have the need / time / skills to invest in using a simulation software (ROS or other). Is Intel looking to develop an open source simulation software?
