Questions about two UAV & Drone Flight Controllers

Dear officer,

My name is Steven, a graduate student in York University.
Our team wants to purchase a open source flight controller, and we are looking these two:** Navio 2 Autopilot Kit for Raspberry Pi 2/3 **and PixHawk 2.1.
Could you give me some information about those controllers?

]I want know which can allow me to plug in my own GPS receiver for L1/L2 carrier phase measements and even my own IMU or LiDar? (Simply, and UAV provides its spare ports for additional sensors.) /:m]
]What software and programming language those controllers use? /:m]
]Could we do the second hand development later if we purchase one of them?/:m]
]If we purchase one, do we need to purchase another UAV? (Could we install it on our UAV?/:m]
Thank you very much!
I’m looking forward for you email.

Could you please reply me on email, if possible? My email address: xingchen@yorku.ca

Hi Steven,

There are a lot of questions in there but let’s answer the firsts ones before going further.
Both the Navio2 and the PixHawk 2.1 will use Arducopteras the code but the Navio2 use a Raspberry Pi so have more power if you plan on adding things.

1- Both could use an external GPS as long as you can incorporate the communication. (serial)
2- You can have a look at the Arducopterproject for further details.
3- I’m not sure i understand this question.
4- If you purchase a flight controller, you can mount it on whatever you want. Those usually support may different configurations.
