Questions about the Lynxmotion AL5A?

Hi Robot Professionals,

I have a couple of questions regarding the Lynxmotion AL5A robotic arm, product # RB-Lyn-531.

My intentions for purchasing this arm are to use it for an automated test I need to perform. Basically, I need the arm to swipe a credit card size badge on a reader, repeatedly, over a duration of time, at a variety of speeds. The weight of the badge is the same as any credit card.

Questions:

  1. Can the speed of the arm be controlled? If so, approximately how fast and how slow can it be adjusted? Is this programmable through the RIOS software?

  2. I’m concerned about the durability of the arm and servos. If I were to use this arm for some very light weight work (swiping a badge on a reader), for about 8 hours at a time for 5 days a week, what kind of life expectencey can I get from this model?

  3. Is there a return policy, or upgrade if this model doesn’t meet my needs?

  4. Given the test I outlined above is there any other recommendations you could make?

Thank you very much,

Scot Sinopoli

]The speed of the robot can indeed be controlled. RIOS can do this as well./:m]
]The robot should be durable enough. however, you might want to upgrade its three smaller servos to this one: robotshop.com/ProductInfo.aspx?pc=RB-Hit-67/:m]
]See the return policy here: robotshop.com/returns.html/:m]
]We believe this arm is appropriate for the test you describe./:m]
