I forget the name for this style track but it has an offset idler creating a triangle looking track. I have decided to do a rover first vs. a biped due to the large cost of servos.
I know you were working on this Jim, but I was wondering what the ETA is on this setup. I don’t plan to do a Johny 5 style rover, instead, I want to do a more traditional tracked rover with perhaps one or two robotic arms mounted on it later on.
Are there any lexan bases that I can get for this? What about that one you did with the regular tracks? Can an offset idler be installed on that platform?
Hi Mike,
I was waiting for the injection molded base rotate part before I went any further on the tracked vehicles. (it took way longer than my injection molder thought it would) I now have the main part here and am waiting for the second smaller part that goes on the top. (this part should not be a problem) However I now have the required things to move on the design work. I am doing the triangle arrangement first. It has two idlers on the front and back, and one motor per side. It’s actually a much simpler design to implement. I should be able to have the next revision assembled tonight and will try to have images to post tomorrow. I’m not trying to tease you, we really will have these chassis available soon. I apologize it’s taken so long.
