I am working on a project for an indoor robot using my own base. I have looked through all the web page docs and FAQ and cannot find an answer to my quesiton
I am considering the following parts.
4 GHM-04 motors with 2 QME-01 encoders with the MMT-02 Motor Mount
I also plan to use the ARW-01 aluminum wheels and I see they are compatibel with the HUB-02 Universal Hub? No one seems to know much about using these wheels.
The total robot weight will be less than 20lbs
Does any one know if the above options could support the physical weight without damaging the motor “bearings”? Do you think there would be enough torque?

There isn’t much to know here. The wheels can attach to either our HUB-02 or HUB-03.
The decision to use four motors with two encoders is fine for something like the A4WD rover. A situation where you know there will be friction and errors. But it sounds to me like you plan to use four motors with the ARW-01 wheels. These thin tires would work best with two motors, two encoders and a tail wheel.
As for the shaft loading, I’ve never made anything that weighed more than around 4-6lbs. Not sure.
From what I have been told, those are the largest motors that have the encoder shaft, but I don’t know if they can handle 20 lbs. So if anyone has used them either 2 or 4 wheeled platform, please let me know what the largest weight capacity might be. I would actually prefer two wheels if they have enough torque to handle my wt requirements. As for the thin tires, I actually think they will have less errors from turning (the large tires, for indoor use, will have to slip like tank treds)

I’d be reluctant to load 20LBS on a motor shaft. Better to run a shaft through a pair of bearings, couple the motor to that shaft, and let the shaft take the load.
