Quadruped Gait Matrix Animation

Here’s a link to the video :

I have previously posted links to the program itself, and a flip-book version of the animation, but I have received no replies or inquiries.

Feel free to ask questions. I never got around to building the robot.

Sorry, not really following it.

I saw the video but I don’t know what I am looking at.

i think its supposed to be something like this:

link to software. enjoy.!

That’s quite an impressive piece of software. But this particular animation was done on an old Macintosh, with only 128k of memory.
We were taught a programming language called “BASIC” when we were in High school (Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code).
I have scanned the printout of the original program, and saved it as a PDF file, here it is:

Just to clarify, the robot moves forward 200 pixels with each step (or 201, because I rounded off the decimal). The legs are stretched to a 45 degree angle, forward and rearward, and the leg segments are 70 or 71 pixels long, because the sine of 45 degrees is .707 and I rounded off .

I want to eventually add to this program, so the robot body is higher off the ground. The robot should be able to change it’s stride to adjust to rough terrain.
But the computer ran out of variables ( I used all the letters in the alphabet).

Thanks for that link to the new software, I will have a look at it.

Okay, I looked at that software “My First Walker”, and it’s interesting, it reminds me of a bug in a jar.

But what my program* attempted to do was, to keep the body of the robot absolutely steady, as if it could carry a cup of tea on it’s back without spilling a drop.

Thank you for that link.

*My robot animation program is called “The Forklift Sketch”, in reference to what I believe could be an industrial use for a large robot.

I was curious to see your old BASIC program.

No offense, but I really hate download sites like that! FULL SCREEN POPUPS, naggware trying to sell you a “speeded up” download from their crippled free download… Warnings please!
[/rant off]

And it looks like it STILL hasn’t downloaded…

P.S. And now it appears to just be dead at 14%. Aborted.

Um, isn’t that a bit redundant?

Yeah, I couldn’t remember which way at first to put the little / thingie/
