I am planning on using this kit for my college project. We are required to use a Picaxe 28 as the controller. Just wondering if the geared motors that come with it will work ok with the picaxe? Im new to robotics so im not exactly sure.
We need to make an automated vehicle that can navigate through a maze, im thinking this would be a good base.
If the Picaxe has a dual 5 amp motor controller you are good to go. However if not you may need a motor controller.

the wiring diagram only shows wiring to suit a remote control, i need to be able to talk to each motor separately using the picaxe, am i right in thinking that the forward/backward, left/right connections can be used to control motor 1 and motor 2 independently?
Yes that is true. They would be controlled just like a servo.
