HI folks,
I recently purchased 2 PS2 V3 controllers with the extra level converters.
I was successful at controlling a robot arm and many other bots using the older style PS2 from Lynx motion and Bill Porter’s library.
I tried loading the code to another Arduino recently and found the PS2 having problems with the library (i think). I tested both old and new PS2 and the same result when compiling with Arduino 1.6.3 and the 1.6 PS2 controller.
Has anyone had success using the PS2 V3 with a Mega? If so, do you have a library that works with Arduino 1.6.3?
Thanks in advance!
Doyle
Hi Doyle,
While we don’t officially support use of our PS2 V3 controllers with the Arduino Mega, we can still have a quick look at the code you are using if you wish or offer some ideas on your current issues.
Please attach a copy (probably best to use a zip) of your entire code and the PS2X library folder to a post and we will certainly take a look.
As for your current issues with it, what kind of errors / problems are you having when you try to use it with your Arduino Mega? Do you get any data from it? Did you try to enable the debug mode in the PS2X library’s main header (.h) file? If so, could you post a copy of that data and details of the setup and test here?
Also, could you post one or more pictures of your current setup showing clearly all connections?
Sincerely,
there is a customer who said he used an Arduino Mega…right out of the box.
Have you folks tried Bill Porter’s Arduino Library since you point a link to it?
I tried the example and got no response. Anyone have a basic working library for the PS2 v3 and Arduino 1.6.3?
thanks!
The PS2v3 is compatible with the Lynxmotion BotBoarduino as well as the latest version of Arduino.
When it comes to compatibility with the MEGA however, the pinout may be slightly different, and we have not tested it.
I purchased 2 PS2 v3 for a science faire project assuming that It would work as your v1 did. I understand the RF are not compatible, however, you folks implied that Bill Porter’s link should be used to interface with Arduino.
any chance someone could look into this? Our community robotics group is planning to build multiple ROV, Robots, and animatronic platforms using the PS2 wireless.
any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks!
Can you confirm exactly which hardware you are using?
is the PS2 level shifter required for connection to the ARduino?
I am using it and the PS2v3 is recognized 1 out 9 times.
can I connect the PS2 directly as I did with the earlier PS2 controllers from you folks?
If you purchased the PS2v3 from RobotShop, feel free to contact us via the support center and we will look into replacing it with a V2 remote.
Yes, it should work in most cases without the level shifter. Unfortunately we don’t have the easy to use cable anymore.
