Ps2 Controller wont connect

I am using the Tri-Track Chassis Combo for PS2 and everything is going fine but the issue is i can’t seem to have the controller take control. I can program the system but i am unable to have to controller activate with it. the test program is working fine and there is no issue with anything but that i have checked the wiring multiple times and the even rebuilt it for safe measure i am just unclear as to the issue can anyone help?

Hi and welcome,

When you say that the test program is working fine, which one? Often If I am having issues with the PS2, I will go to the PS2 like tutorial: lynxmotion.com/images/html/build034.htm to see if I can get the PS2 to talk there.

Are you using the tutorial for the Tri-track? lynxmotion.com/images/html/build138.htm
If so when you get to step 8, do you have the older style PS2 connector as shown in the tutorial? Does any of the color schemes match?
Or a newer one that has 6 male pins coming out of it, like what is shown in:
http://www.lynxmotion.com/images/product/medium/rc-01%20v2.jpg If so the connections are different…

I know I posted how this is done, which I will try to find later, but got to go now.

I am using the 8 pin set. The tutorial lynxmotion.com/images/html/build138.htm I am wondering if i need to move the pin placement in the connectors. also i have made it to step 8 multiple times and have restarted over even to see if i made a mistake and it didn’t fix the issue.

Ok, older style. Some things to try and details that would help.

  1. Fresh batteries in the Transmitter? What power is going to the Bot Board 2? Batteries OK and Charged?
  2. What are the LEDS on the Transmitter doing? Do both light up on the receiver when you power up the board? Is one blinking…
  3. On the four wire connector what is the wire colors? Is one on the end brown and one on the other end blue? If so make sure the brown one is plugged into IO pin 12.
  4. Is the power going to the 4 pin group (12-15) set for +5v? The receiver will not work properly at VS.

Assuming the power is correct and wiring is proper, I again would suggest running a PS2 test program which is in the tutorial I mentioned in the first response.

If the PS2 test shows the two working, I would then download and install the program mentioned in step 10 of the tri-track tutorial.

Hope that helps

  1. All the batteries are new and freshly charged.
  2. Yes led b is staying a solid color while led c is flashing.
  3. Yes all the wiring is set up as instructed.
  4. I am assuming the it is set for +5v how. How can i check this just in case the red led’s on the transmitter are lit up.
I am thinking its my controller the led for analog is not staying lit and it will flash then shut off i am unsure. i followed the test program and it didn’t run the numbers even when i pressed the controller buttons.

Sounds like they are not linking up with each other…

As for checking for +5v, if you look at the BB2 tutorial: lynxmotion.com/images/html/b … htm#bb2lay
If you look at where #13 is on the diagram, the 3 pins to the right of the 13 control the voltages going down to those IO pins. If the shorting is as shown that is +5v.

Note: Sometimes after I turn the power on on the BB2, I may have to go back to the remote and turn it off and then back on, to get them to bind.

Not sure what else to check here.

As for linking up with each other how do i go about fixing that? If i can or would i have to get a new set up? It doesnt show of a short ether so i am thinking its the controller.

A few more questions about the hardware and configuration:

  • Check the PS2 receiver you have - does it have two red LEDs or is one green and the other red?
  • Can you send a clear image of the connection to the board?

Thanks,
