I am trying to control a Lynx 5 arm with a PS2 controller using both the Bot Board and the SSC-32. I have followed the connection instructions on the guide on the Lynxmotion website to the best of my ability, but the controller does not seem to do anything. The indicator LEDs on the PS2 reciever do light up, and I was able to succesfully load the program provided using the Basic atom sw without any errors. I fell that I am close, but I just made a small misake, perhaps with connecting the remote reciever. Into pins 4,5,6, and 7 I have brown, orange, blue, and white respectively. I also have connected into the other 2 pins on 7 the red, black, and yellow connector for power.
Thaks for your reply. I called up Lynxmotion, and they helped me out with the connection issues.
Aside from one connection mistake, it turned out that the lines in the program for the Bot Board I were active instead of the Bot Board II. Commentint the I lines out and activating the II lines fixed the problem.
However, I am still having a slight issue with the movement of the whole arm up and down, which is controlled by moving the Left joystick up and down. Once the arm goes below the midpoint, the motors immediatly slam it to the ground at full speed, making it hard to control. Jim from Lynxmotion said that they recreated the symptom, and while there is nothing wrong with my setup, he said that he would look into correcting this.
If anyone has experienced this before and has a fix, I would love to hear it.
As I mentioned in the email, I tried the new program, and while it slows down the other motions, it has little effect on the “lunging” issue with the gripper up/down from the Left joystick.
The problem seems to be most prevalent when the gripper is too close to the base when lowering the gripper. I will have Laurent look at it again to see if it can be improved.
Jim,
Now we have a 6 V NiMH 1600 rechargable battery powering the arm, and everything works much better than with 4 AAs. We have a regular 9V battery powering the circuits. It no longer does that rapid lunge down, all motions are controlled. We will try it with the fast program and see which works better. Thanks again, and we’ll send you some pictures.
