PS2 Controller to PS2 Receiver Troubleshooting

Hello,

I am having technical difficulty with the connection between the PS2 Controller and the PS2 Receiver. Here are the schematics of the robot:

CH3R hexapod
SSC32-II
Basic Atom Pro
PS2 Receiver
PS2 Controller v1

The issue is as follows:

  1. When the robot is turned on the red light on the receiver refuses to turn on initially.
  2. After removing and putting back in the wires on the 15 spot we have been able to get the red light to turn on and blinks.
  3. When we turn on the PS2 Controller it too has a blinking red light and the green light is off.

We assume that it was a communication issue and have looked through the forums and have yet to find a solution.

We are wondering what the blinking red lights mean and how to fix our communication issue.

Thanks in Advance for any help.

Some ideas:

The red light should come on when the unit is powered properly - if you’re having issues with that, verify that the pins you chose are HIGH, and verify your connections to the remote.
The PS2 you have is the “older” version so you ideally don’t need the level shifter board.
The green light should go solid once you turn on the remote control (verify that the batteries are good of course and that the BotBoard is properly powered).
Check the code and see which pins are assigned to communicate with the PS2 receiver.

If none of these work, can you draw or take a picture of the receiver’s connections to the Bot Board and indicate which code you are using?

After trying all these steps none of them worked.
We have also tried multiple receivers and controllers and got the same result.
A solid green light and a blinking red light continues to show on the receiver. The ps2 controller continues to blink red.

We are using the following code directly from the lynxmotion website:

Our wiring matches the following diagram from the site:

It seems you need the level shiftier for the PS2 controller.

Hello again,

Wanted to let you guys know we got the level shifter and it seems that that is what was needed.
