I already had a prolific usb to serial cable around and I know it works because I use it for other devices as my laptop doesn’t have a regular serial port. I received my bot board 2 and basic atom pro today and tried to connect, but no go. The red LED blinks when I try to connect but the IDE never finds it. I set up the driver to use 112500 on com 1. I also downloaded the latest drivers right from prolific’s website. Is there something simple I’m missing or should I just go shell out another 30 bucks for a FTDI cable?
It is hard to say. I have had luck with som Prolific cables and not others. The Basic Atom Pro is pretty demanding on the connection. There are several threads/posts/tutorials up here that give lots of hints on how to configure your USB connection.
The current one I am using is from BAFO and it uses the prolific chip set. I had problems until I used an external powered USB2 hub.

Thanks for suggesting the powered usb hub. That did the trick! Must of skimmed over that part in the troubleshooting. Works great now! Thanks!

You da man!
I’d also like to add that selecting the atompro 28 in the drop down helps also. This seems like a intuitive thing to do. I didn’t see it til 20 min of dinking around. Would be a good idea to put it in the getting started guide.
Sounds good to me. We will put it on the list. Thanks for the suggestion!
