Project Phoenix, a hexapod robot

 I think you both got it right.
There are two springs on each side and two switches for detecting any pressure at any angle. The foot works fine from 0 - 180 deg. angle against the floor. 8)

(Pardon my not so good english  )

Hi! I added some cool sequences to the sequences I made yesterday.
Did you ment bench presses like these? robodude. 8)
And some popcorn music in the background. but you can still hear the servos whining… hehe

Very nice additions. Those are pushups I think.

This is a bench press:

No worries though. Basically I was asking how strong are those legs. I was wondering how much weight the entire hexapod can lift.

Oh, the “popcorn” music is very cool too. Yea, servos are still pretty loud. But ahh well. You can always strip the audio from the video first before adding music.

Man, Phoenix gets cuter and cuter ^^;;

Just a thought. Were you inspired by the “Hexapod Robot V4” ? I like the force feedback it has. Amazing work.

Nice fluid motions. Looks really great Zenta

Outstandingly fluid movements.

And thank you for the music, brought back a lot of memories.

‘Hot Butter’ released Popcorn on a 45… ‘Saturday night at the drive in’ (r similar) was on the flip side.

I think I just dated myself.

Bow Chicka Bow Wow.

Extremely fluid motions. Majority of all other walking robots I’ve seen have hesitation between movements.

Wait, so popcorn is a band?

Hi!

Ok i didn’t exactly understand what you ment, I now what bench press is. I was very active in training when I was 18 -22 years old.
But i didn’t understand if you ment that the robot had to lay on it’s back? hehe

So you ment push ups with weigth on her back then… OK, have to try that sometime…

And YES I have been very inspired by Hexapod Robot V4 b ! Both V4 and V4 b are the coolest hexapods I know about.

Yup! I personally like Hexapod Robot v4 more than v4b. I think the force feedback feet look very cool. You should try to implement something similar to that on this bugger.

So, phoenix is a she. Eh? Good to know.

Yup. Push ups with all 6 legs with weight on her back. Or if you can make her lye down on her back, then put like a wooden board and put weight on it.

Speaking on back. Would be funny if you made a sequence where she was on her back and was like “help, help, i’ve fallen over and can’t get back up” haha

Cheers,

Hi!

Does anyone now how to screencapture a program while running like a video? I thought it might be interesting for some of you roboteers to see how my excel program work live (like a demo) while I’m making a ripple gait sequence.

Ctrl + Print Screen (Print Screen is usually i the Top right corner of the keyboard.

For a video of your screen, try
this

It’s freeware, and seems to work pretty good with regular programs.

GREAT!
Just what I needed! I will try that later, thanks.

I have used Fraps, but it has a limit as to ho long you can capture, but you can restart a new session right when it stops and combine them all together.

www.fraps.com

I personally use:

AutoScreenRecorder 2.0 Free
wisdom-soft.com/products/aut … r_free.htm

You can record a window or the entire screen. Controlled either by the buttons or F keys. It makes fairly high quality video for a free application.

Isn’t FRAPS for games? I’m not sure it can record Excel. It records in DirectX environments like games and CADs.

Hi!

I have tried CamStudio and AutoScreenRecord, they work just fine.
But the .avi file gets very large fast and I think the low resolution on youtube are unusable to show what happens on a 1280x1024 screen… :frowning:

I tried to simply video record my LCD monitor with my cell.phone but that looks really bad.

So I feel I’m a bit stuck here.

Thanks anyway!

Argh!

I’m getting tired of these large tibia servos… Too often they crash into their neighbour tibia while I’m making some walk and rotate sequences. It’s easy to adjust but it’s at bit annoying.

I have to try some of these low profile servos…
Have recently ordered two of them, they have not the same tourqe as the 645’s but I think it will work better anyway.

1280 x 1024? Did you have excel maximized? Could you be able to set excel to like 1024 x 768? That way its also in a 4:3 ratio and its easier to resize the video for youtube. Youtube uses 320 x 240 which is a 4:3 ratio.

Here is a little demo of the excel program when I’m making a simple forward walking ripple gait sequence. The low resolution on youtube makes it hard to see what I’m doing, but you can see that some legs are moving.

Hi Zenta,

It’s a little too hard to see much on the 'tube, but I can see some leg movement. Are you considering releasing your spread sheet at some point? I’d like to see it first hand. Perhaps you’d be willing to share the “display” portion? I really don’t know much about Excel.

Your leg display layout looks like what I’ve been thinking about. I’d like to SEE the leg movements produced by the IK of the 'bot program (from Atom) I’m working on. I assume you have file format of some sort (comma delimited?) that you store your “gaits” in. Perhaps you could publish it? Hmm, perhaps it’s a script from SSC-32 Sequencer? That would work out well.

I was considering writing a 3D display program to parse a simple file (or live strings from a com port) of joint positions and angles as well. I’m not a windoz programmer, so it would have to be in DOS (UGH!). But I don’t need another project! Maybe there’s a Visual Basic or Visual C++ programmer out there who would be interested in writing a Visual “player” for the SSC-32 Sequencer program scripts (or whatever file format it uses). There’s a good new product for you Jim!

I had no idea Excel could do that. How did you make a spread sheet work like a software program?
