Project Contest @ Trossen Robotics

Hey guys,

We have a lot of very cool projects that get posted here, so I wanted to mention that Trossen Robotics is holding a project contest on their forums, with a $500 gift card for 1st place! 2nd and 3rd place get gift cards too.

All the info you need to know on the contest can be found here:

trossenrobotics.com/contest.aspx

Basically you’ll want to document your project in a single post and provide as many pictures and videos as you can.

Contest ends 2/29/08 so get your projects polished up (though a lot of our projects are never truly finished, which is fine) and posted soon if you’re interested in entering.

Good luck!

Im in! I’d love to see what others think of my MARC Robot before I enter it in my provincial fair, and hopefully nationals again (fingers crossed). Im sure I will be able to see some other interesting projects posted as well.

Just a reminder, this contest ends in just over 2 weeks so if you plan on entering, be sure to get it in soon!

Project forum link is here: forums.trossenrobotics.com/forum … .php?f=101

…however I still recommend reading the original link to give you an idea of what they’re looking for in your project submission post.

Good luck everyone!

FYI- Tomorrow is the last day to get your project entered!

I would but Im all tied up with the science fair today, tomorrow and saturday

500 would be sweet in my wallet though

I cant wait to see how the contest goes. There are a lot of great projects.

I think Zenta deserves 1st place. Everything is custom except the servos. Very well done.

I agree, his project was so well done it was chosen to be a product distribued world-wide (lynxmotion). 8)

I agree, Zenta has my vote

Thanks alot guys!

And thanks to Tyberius who gave me a hint about this contest.

CONGRATS TO ZENTA! He won the contest! Woohoo! Our own SN96 also placed runner up.

Contest results were posted here: forums.trossenrobotics.com/showthread.php?t=1519

There were some really cool projects this round, made the competition tough!

Congratulation to all you guys, Tyberius, SN96 and especially Zenta for you wins in the contest.

Congratulations!

Now maybe some of the rest of us will have a chance!

The laser harp project was interesting. I’m currently tinkering with my $2.88 Walmart laser pin to see if I can easily modulate the beam at 38khz to make a triangulation type range finder and object detector.

I was actually tinkering with a lego mindstorms light sensor and when doing the “test me” option I realized you could use a bunch of IR or laser pointers which could make different notes at every touch closer or further from the beam. It reminded me of the laser harp project and is deffinately cool stuff.

Absolutely! The more the better! I say everyone should submit their project regardless of prizes. It’s great to see all the projects on display.

I tried registering over there, but no matter how many times I refreshed the image, I could not detect what all the letters were. So, I never got registered. Those images are way harder to read than they need to be to avoid bots.
