Is there a way to detect pattern in mbot?
I need to detect if the maze has X marked with tape in the grid.

The selection of standard sensors cannot be used to detect patterns. You would need to add another sensor - for example a simple color sensor and have the X in a dolor which is different than the floor.
Alternatively, use a line follower and program it to “recognize” an X based on the input.
