Proffessional Robot Photos

I was recently at walmart today and noticed something that could yeild amazing photos for people who like taking professional photos of their bots.

Portable Studio in a box:

walmart.com/catalog/product. … id=8144814

walmart.com/catalog/product. … id=8144811

they are very portable and pretty inexpensive. There are also many different kinds.

Something to add to your christmas list.

Sorry for 5 day bump.

Thats actually a pretty darn good kit! I’m working on making a custom (33 x 33 x 33") lightbox and found that the total cost for parts + lighting is around $75. I’d prefer to build my own as I can customize the size and features

My dad would just about explode at that!

He is a professional photographer and hates when people think they can take pictures as good as him by spending money. I think what I mean is it takes experiance to take a good well lit picture.

In my opinion, I get good results with a couple swing arm lamps with diffusers on them. Put good directional bulbs in though.

I wouldn’t spend the money on something like that. Get two lights, diffusing gels (like thin plastic bag, but can take the heat). Put spotlight 100W bulbs in, and strat taking ok pictures.

Those little lights on the walmart thing will probably never be bright enough anyway.

The most important thing is get your camera to focus. :unamused:

Of course you don’t need to spend money to be a professional photographer! However, proper lighting is still needed. Jim doesn’t use anything fancy. Just a white bed sheet and two or three lights. A light box can still be a useful thing to own if you’re doing photography as it better controls the lighting and helps remove even more of those yellows and oranges from our home’s lights. A light box also gives you several points to hang lights from and orientate them the way you want 'em. Its cheaper to get $9.99 clip on lights than those fancy stands jim uses.
