Product suitability

Hi,

I’m not sure if I am in the right place but I am looking for some sort laser that can scan and read dimensions from a door frame. The part of the frame that’s dimensions will be needed will be where the door fits. So it will be over an area typically around 800mmwidex2000mmhighx35mmthick. Would it be possible for a laser to scan this somehow and give exact dimensions of the frame for width and height (so 2D), even if the frame may be become wider in the middle and narrower at the top or bottom for example?

Thanks,

Sam

Would the RPLiDAR A2M8 36 be suitable? It needs to be accurate to 0.5mm and show correct frame angles as they may not necessarily be at 90degrees

Thanks,

Sam

Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply.

Could find this, hope this will help: https://www.engineering.com/Hardware/ArticleID/14541/3D-Scanning-Understanding-the-Differences-In-LIDAR-Photogrammetry-and-Infrared-Techniques.aspx

Concerning the accuracy of the Lidar, it will depend on many factors. The distance, the angle, the reflexion of the surface, the number of signal sent per rotation… ect
