Hi!
I require your help regarding a question I’m encountering.
Product Code : RB-Lyn-346
assuming i can use any software to communicate with hs-nnn servo
is that gripper strong enough to enable the robot to lift itself?
robot will weigh about 40 lbs.
the gripper will grab a D shaped hook mounted to a wall. the hook is not more than 1/2 inch wide, and the inside depth from wall to hook is about 1 inch.
another option would be the heavy duty rotating arm add-on, and use that rotation to engage a fixed hook to grab the D-shaped eyelet?
Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Yikes no - not even close. Can’t even remotely consider that as an option. You’d need a metal gripper, and likely a linear actuator to ensure it doesn’t come loose. For example, even the gripper on this arm would be questionable for lifting 40lbs:
You should not consider anything which is RC servo based.

It too would likely break. You need something with sufficient material (density and durability) to withstand the weight, and an actuator which will too. Suggest not using an RC servo based system - consider a linear actuator:
You’d have to design the mechanics, so think something like this:

This type of design will allow it to grab and hold, and withstand the forces.
