I am using MG995 servos to drive my 10 DOF robot. I have tested servos with servo tester and it is working well enough, it gets pulse and centers itself and all.
But while using them on SSC-32 they don’t move.
When I power them servos get flicker, but when I send data they do not move at all. The LED on SSC-32 flicks when I used to sent data through Lyxn Terminal software, but servos won’t move. I am giving 6.0vdc to SSC-32. and separate 7vdc to servo motors. I am using 0-9 servo ports. I have tested individually all servos on port 0 or port 1 of SSC-32 but they only flicker when I power them, but they don’t move when I command them.
What is the problem? And how should I solve it?
Please help!!!
Thanks
After you send data, is the green LED on the SSC-32 lit or does it remain dark?
Can you provide some pictures of the wiring?

I have not changed default jumpers, ie baud rate is 115K.
I am giving power to VS1 through 5 alkaline batteries in series, so total around 7-8 vdc to VS1.
I am using Y- cable to power servos with 6 NiMH batteries in Series = around 6.5 vdc to each servos
LED is green when I power SSC-32, but after sending data it turns off or blinks so fast that we can’t find its color.
You are seeing the classic signs of your power supply, the “AA” battery pack is not capable of delivering the current required by the servos. The battery may be able to deliver this current, but the cheap black plastic battery holders rely on the pressure of springs to make the electrical connection. It looks fine until you start to demand more current. The springs do not have enough surface contact with the battery to provide the current. Also you mention you are providing 7.5vdc to VS1 and you are powering the servos through “Y” cables. This is essentially shorting out your 7.5vdc source with your 7.2vdc source. Not a good plan.
Power the servos from VS1 only. Power the VL with a 9vdc battery, clip included. Remove the jumper VS1=VL. Then your problems will go away.
I have a transformer of 120Ac to 6.5vdc at 1.5amps can I use it and connect it to VS1 for servos and use 9V battery of VL.
One more orblem is that lyxnTerminal don’t detect SSC-32, but it sents data to SSC-32 after I change its data bits and Baud rate.
With just the 9v battery connected, you should be able to send the “ver” command and get back the version info.

These are cheaper and as per reviews excellent servos, Can these servos be used instead of MG995 if required?
Aforge.NET framework can be used with SSC-32?
Can I program SSC-32 with C# 2008 and with Microsoft Robotics Studio 2008 R3 now its free.
I think there is no other problem at all my SSC-32 Controller except my poor power calculations, Right?
I believe there is no problem except the power supply. Yes you can use any programming language you want to write a program for the SSC-32. Yes you should be able to use your power pack.
