Problems detecting the Botboarduino as COM port

I just recently got a Botboarduino and tried hooking it up to my PC. However, the Arduino IDE is unable to detect it as a COM port. I’ve tried burning the bootloader (Arduino Duemilanove 328) and also manually updating the drivers, but every time Windows tells me that the device is already up to date even though it is listed as an Unknown Device in device manager. I have some other Arduino boards and they have no problem being detected as COM ports.

Could anybody help me out? Thanks!

Hi wortywarrior,

Can you try to install the drivers that match your computer here:
ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

The serial chip on the BotBoarduino is a FTDI chip.

Let us know…

Hey DiaLFonZo, thanks for your reply.

I’ve installed the drivers from and have also tried installing the drivers manually for the device through device manager but neither is working. When I try to manually update the drivers, Windows tells me that the device (Unknown Device) is already updated.

I have 3 other arduino boards and all of them work fine. Could it be that this particular Arduino board is faulty? I have 3 other Arduino boards and they all work fine. I’ve also tried it on different computers as well.

Hi wortywarrior,

I see that you open a ticket on our support center.
We will take care of you there from now on.

Thanks…
