Hi,
Apologies if this is mis-categorized… I couldn’t really find an appropriate category.
I’ve recently purchased a ‘MakerBot Replicator 2X’ from RobotShop. Although it seems to work, I cannot get any extrusions to stick to the table, causing them extruder to pick the filament up on the next pass and make a mess. I have tried suggestions I have found online, such as levelling the table (numerous times), cleaning the table with acetone, trying with and without tape on the table… no love.
Are there any suggestions out there? I can’t be the only one experiencing this
Thanks and best wishes,
Verdon
Hi Verdon,
Welcome to the RobotShop forum.
Which filament are you using with your 2X and what is the temperature set when you create your print ?
I will take for granted that you did the leveling right, but make sure it is done and with or without the tape on, adding tape after the level and you will have to level again.
To get a nice stick, i personally use blue or green painter tape and lightly rub the surface (of the tape) with acetone or alcohol before the print.
Let us know…
Hi Eric,
Thanks for replying
I’m actually in midst of my first (so far) successful print.
I am using the ABS filament that came with my 2X. I stripped off the kaplan tape that came pre-installed and put on a new piece. I wiped it all down with acetone. I ran a preheat cycle first, and am now printing the test ‘nut & bolt’ file. The platform had pre-heated to 110, but is now at 52 in mid-print. The extruder is at 230.
I’ll try another pattern after this to see if my luck holds.
Are you saying I can use paper tape on the 2X with ABS filament instead of the kaplan?
Thks,
v
Sure, you can try it and see if it stick more.
