Powering the Arm

I’m looking over the robot arms and considering the installation of one in my PC-based robot. My issue of the moment is power. The PC-based bot has piles of 12V and 5V current, but no 6V lines.

I read an earlier thread about someone trying 7.2 V, and I get that. What about 5V?

Adding a regulator isn’t a huge deal, but first I want to ask if that’s necessary.

Servos like 6vdc the best. They have the best strength and performance at 6vdc. Servos will operate at slower speeds and less torque just fine at 5vdc. It really depends on how much work the servos need to do. I have heard good things about the castle creations voltage regulator. Good for 10 amps. 12vdc in would be fine. It has an adjustable output.
