Hi, im Matias From Argentina, i want to make a project AVL robot for my car and i need a power system capable to feed my arduino and the modem GSM and the GPS, i need a backup battery LI-ION when the car battery is disconected, and when is connected is used as a main power and charge of the LI-ION internal battery, have a circuit to do that automatically?, i have a diagram to show it
sorry my english, please help me
Thanks to all
Hi Matias,
Although Arduino can take 12V, the voltage from a car battery can overshoot and be unstable, so you will need to regulate it. In order to charge a battery as well, we propose you this system:
]RB-Dim-14/:m]
]RB-Ard-34/:m]
]RB-Dfr-160/:m]
You would connect RB-Dim-14 to the car battery and regulate its output to 9V. The RB-Dfr-160 LiPo battery would be directly connected to the RB-Ard-34, and the 9V regulator output, to the Vin pin. All grounds are common.
The proposed battery has a built in charger which charges the battery when it received a 9V input. The end-result will be a system that is powered from your car battery when the car is ON (while charging the battery at the same time), and a powered by the LiPo battery when the car is OFF.
