Possible AGV

So I came across patrick's agv (https://www.robotshop.com/letsmakerobots/node/18922) and his tutorial (https://www.robotshop.com/letsmakerobots/node/19554.) and I remembered that I have a nice rc car. Once I learn more about robotics, I plan to build an Automated guided vehicel with the same compass and gps. Is this a hard build?

Here is a video that I took of the rc car

Fast is not good when it

Fast is not good when it comes to this. The GPS does not have a very fast update rate and I can tell you from experience that you do not want a vehicle going fast when something goes wrong (when in the developement stage, a lot of things can go wrong). Is it a hard build? Well it was not that hard for me, but you said you are a beginner. I would not make this as one of your first robot projects. If you do try to do this you need to make sure you are up for the challenge. I would say you need the knowledge of working with micro-controllers, soldering, programming, basic circuitry before maybe trying this. Not that you cant be done, but in the end it could save you money from making mistakes.

My tutorial needs badly to be updated, but I simply do not have the time or effort to do so. With just a little variation in the setup and I cant say for sure that my code will work, but most of it will.
