Plotter downward force

Hi!

I was thinking of using the X-Y Plotter robot kit to make an automatic test fixture for a matrix of small PCBs, 100 on a 12x12 panel. Can someone tell me the plotter downward force on the pen? I will need to make a device that mounts in the place of the pen that makes electrical connection to the PCB below. I use pogo pins to make contact on the PCB.

I just need to know if there is an active downward pressure that could be used to maintain electrical connection while the test is operating. The fixture would need to lift (like the pen) to move to the next PCB to test.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hi @Bridgerman, which X-Y plotter robot are you looking at exactly?
Is it the MakeBlock XY-Plotter Robot Kit v2.0 (With Electronics)?

This is not an info that the manufacturer specify.
You can estimate with the servo specifications:

No. Operat voltage 4.8V 6.0V
4.1 Idle current 5mA 5mA
4.2 No load speed 0.10sec/60° 0.09sec/60°
4.3 Runnig current 80mA 100mA
4.4 Peak stall torque 1.5kg.cm 1.8kg.cm
4.5 Stall current 650mA 750mA

Thank you,

I saw in a video that a rubber band is used to provide downward force. The servo lifts the pen and overcomes the tug of the rubber band. I guess the rubber band can be adjusted to provide the proper force as long as it doesn’t overpower the servo motor.
