Greetings all, I am new to this forum and am very excited:p about Pleo, our new edition to the family. I have just received him/her from the Robotshop and forgot to ask what version of Pleo it is. and if he would be running the new software already, I do not want to hatch him until Christmas morning when my wife opens him up. (he is a gift)
Is there any way to tell if he is the improved mechanical and paint version, and what software he is running without hatching him or hooking him up to a computer? I forgot to ask when I bought him I was too excited.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Kelly
Yes the price was reduced for a while, I emailed when I was gathering info and pricing and asked why it was lower and was told very candidly that it was the older version, but when I called and ordered a week later the price was way up, so I assumed it was new stock. I asked the fellow I was ordering from about the version, he sounded annoyed and said he would have to go out to warehouse to check which version it was, so I told him not to worry about it, just send it. Made a silly assumption perhaps.
The reason I called to order was because of pricing and also a Canadian company, when I was told new pricing, at that point there was not much I could do.
Price was actually a bit higher than Pleoworld site. I am gonna be a little annoyed if I find out price went up for Christmas sales right after I hung up the phone and this is the old version. I called a week earlier and got much lower pricing. I just received Pleo a few days ago.
It is actually really simple, you have the version all other resellers are selling. They are not the newest model, which is exclusively sold via pleoworld (now run by Innvo Labs). So far we can not re-order Pleos from Innvo Labs. We will revisit this with them in early 2010.
The software can be upgraded to match the new Pleo version.
Paint fades a bit faster on older PLEO
New 2009 model features:
-Improved skin
-longer lasting paint
-improved mechanics and battery charger
Luckily Innvo labs does support units sold through resellers such as RobotShop, which were supplied by the now defunct UGOBE. We are actually now sold out of Pleos, but were selling it at a reduced price.
Hi Tapdog,
I spoke with sales and I may have been mistaken. They confirm that PLEO was on sale for a while because we had too many. Once stock levels came back to normal in mid-November the price was restored back to normal, the MSRP for the product. However, with the price on Pleoworld being in USD, the cost of importation and duties, etc. you actually would have paid more by importing it.
Regardless, you can always request a frefund, by submitting a ticket to the support center, if you are not satisfied with your purchase.
