Please welcome Reaper - Phoenixoid hexapod :D

hi everybody.
finally i found time to assemble base of my hex.
project based on some information from other sites + Lynxmotion website and this Forum.
all parts cut on my hobby CNC mashine :exclamation:

right now thats the base of hex - servo controller + BT module + 2 BEC and 2 Lipo accus.

future plans - ground contact sensors, accelerometer, ASG model cannon + laser point, Wireless IP cam and kind of claw to be able to pickup things and of course kind of controller.

definitely will need your help guys, since i’m weak in coding.

of course all of it is an idea, everything is a case of weight, power and budget available (budget is a main thing  )

so… voila

Wow… I like it a lot…!

thaaanks :unamused:
it was loong way until i created that construction in alu

Very nice work on the custom hex!

I really like how you constructed the coxa part.

Is it 5mm aluminium on all parts?

thanks
as i told main idea of body wasn’t mine, just did few changes in silhouette
those coxa parts, well, requires a bit more work than brackets but looks nice too and have a bearing in bottom plate. tibias are 4, femurs 5, coxa 6 and body up and down and radiator plate is actually AlMg alloy 2mm
one thing i’m afraid - weight  it’s not lexan and not branded servos so now i have more than 3 kilos i think

hello again.
thats a long time flew from last update. I’ve played a bit with Reaper but later on it grounded on shelf and wait for it’s time. And this time is came. mainly i was experiencing not enough power (classics) issue. 2 Jeti 5A continuous current BEC was not enough for 18 MG995 servos. now have bought 8 pieces of 5A ubec from HK.
each leg will have own BEC lol. + additional 1 for electronics and later on i think additional 1 for camera and mandibles (if put any). right now trying to put all this stuff inside this liiiitle body. wish me luck

long long time ago in the galaxy not so far away in Poland

ok, closer to content. i did finish power and legs upgrade on Reaper.
now need extra time to recalibrate everything and start from 0 actually.

here it is

what is changed:

1.shorter tibias with ability to implement ground contact switches for each leg (terrain adaptation in future)
2.tibias are made of black fiberglass with aluminium elements.
3.added foots with gum at the bottom for slippy surfaces and improved stability. also foot have ball link with tibia for inclined surfaces.
4. additional femurs with ball bearings on side of servos back plates (additionally 12 back plates was made on my CNC machine)
5. all servo cables changed for braided servo cable in silicone isolation.
6. additional power distribution board with 7 BEC added inside the chassis.

fuf think that’s all upgrades

Very nice…
remind me of Micromagic own Hexa… !
I like the BIG power button.

well, power button actually plugs both Lipo to power board and all current goes through it, that’s why it’s so big

PS if anybody need dxf for MG995-996 back plate i can drop it here. these back plates were “handmade” from scratch on my CNC it goes 2 hrs for 4 back plates. highly improves femur stability, really huge difference.

Interesting approach to keeping the bottom of the foot flat. Nice design and cool cable management too.

Here is the foot i was reffering to earlier.

indeed, i was basing on this one.
but cable managements looks fine only on legs. inside the chassis its really horror :frowning:

Iv gotta get back in to hexapods! nice work.

Another thing i’m wondering, now have ssc-32 and BT module inside and completely have no space for any other board like bbduino or wharever :frowning:. Probably i have to made next “floor”, but it will change this nice looking one to something else
