I’ve been playing around with the idea of controlling an old RC tank via a microcontroller. The original transmitter did not work when I got it so it’s been laying around for a while, so I got to work on tracing the PCB tracks on the RC receiver to find the points where they meet the receiver microcontroller.
I need some help working out where to solder wires on the RC receiver so that I can control it via a PICAXE.
I’m not excactly sure what you’re after here. Du you want to make the old RC tank into a robot with a microcontroller brain, or do you want to somehow use it as a RC toy?
If you’re after the first one (repurposing the tank into a threaded robot) I’d suggest you get rid of the old RC electronic board. Then it’s (just) a matter of connecting to tank motors to the motor outputs on the picaxe… Unless the motors are to heavy uty to be run from the picaxe, then you’ll need to make a motor driver. There are some good designs for that here on LMR, just search around the forums and the walkthrought.
