anybody tell the differance between phototransistor and a photodarlington
Basically a photodarlington
Basically a photodarlington just has an extra transistor added (compared to a phototransistor), so the output current is higher. You use them in exactly the same way, except you calibrate for higher sensitivity if you use the photodarlington.
phototransistors
thanks telefox for the info so a phototransistor should work in place of a photodarlington?
They perform the same job,
They perform the same job, so they can always be interchanged, but you may need to make some slight adjustments depending on the exact circuit. Unless you can find a phototransistor that has the same specs as the photodarlington it’s replacing, and then they might as well be identical. I’d bet that many ‘phototransistors’ are actually photodarlingtons.
