Phoenix - Wireless PS2 help pls

I finished assembling my Phoenix kit this week by following the various build tutorials. I wired it up and loaded the tripod gait program, following the instructions in the build139 tutorial. After I apply power, I get a short beep and all the legs go to a low(?) position, the left LED on the PS2 receiver is on solid, the right LED just blinks. I cannot control the hex. The PS2 controller has 4 fresh AAA batteries, the power switch is ‘On’. There seem to be two rectangular LEDs under the Analog button, are they supposed to do anything?
I have an old Sony tethered controller and tried that. With that connected, the robot immediately starts walking upon power up. I can use the controls to make movement and orientation changes but it never stops walking.
What am I doing wrong with the wireless config? Is there a sync process?

Phoenix kit
Bot Board II
SSC32 firmware v2.01XE
Lynxmotion PS2 wireless controller and receiver
5-cell 2600maH pack for VS
9v battery for VL

I would appreciate any help.

The wireless PS2 controller will connect with the receiver module even with the Atom removed from the circuit. Make sure they are powered up properly. The likely cause of the continuous walking with the sony brand controller is the joysticks don’t return to center reliably. This is a common problem with sony brand controllers. Try the wireless one with the PS2 game console. Are there other 2.4ghz devices in the area that could be interfering?

Hi -

I’ve double checked the wiring. Left LED on receiver is on solid, right LED is blinking. The handheld controller has 4 fresh AAA batteries, power switch on the bottom is on. There is no manual and I don’t understand what the receiver’s LED indications mean.
The only other 2.4G devices is my WiFi network. Does the wireless controller channel hop to find a free channel?

Thx

It is possible that the controller is defective. Do you know anyone with a PS2 game console that you could try it with? Where are you located? If it’s in the USA I will send a replacement. If not we can work with the distributor in your area.

I just dug my old PS2 out of a pile and tried it. The tethered Sony controller works. The Lynxmotion wireless controller doesn’t seem to do anything. The 2 LEDS between the joysticks show no activity (should they?). Same symptoms on the receiver; left LED solid, right LED continuous blinking.
I am in CT, USA. Thank for your help.

The LED’s on the hand held part should light and blink. If not it sounds like it’;s not getting power. Can you check the battery installation again?

PM me your address. I will need an invoice number to verify.

Received the replacement controller yesterday. It was able to connect to the replacement and original receiver. So it does seem like the original handheld controller is bad. Thanks for your great support and service.

Glad it’s working for you! Now maybe you can open the bad transmitter to see why it had no power.
