Phoenix walking/sprinting/max speed

I’m not sure if this has been covered directly or indirectly, but is there a type of gate that’s the most efficient ?

since the phoenix is a 6 legged robot vs 8 but was wondering if there is a type of walk/gate that is very efficient and how fast you can get the little spidy to trot along. Obviously tossing this out there nature is pretty efficient has anyone tried to mimic this spider walk with only 6 legs? trying to somehow operate the 8 legged gate with 6??

Feel free to post a link to another thread and close this if its already been covered numerous times…

All you need to do to see the fastest and most efficient gate for a Phoenix is to go outside and look down, closely, look for the ants. They all use the alternating tripod gait. Xan illustrated in his last video of how fast the Phoenix can be. Check it out.

go go gadget high resolution slow mo recording of ants? i dont seem to have one of thoes laying around :stuck_out_tongue:

so where is xan’s video?

alternating tripod gait has been the fasted gait iv seen…

In this video by Zan you can see the Ripple gait and Tripod gait. study this and you can see the difference in speed.

Actually most insects use the alternating tripod for the majority of their locomotion. Here are some youtube videos I found. Go go gadget youtube! lol

holy crap youtube.com/watch?v=U8dd04VGjl0 at about 1:28-1:30ish

I love how the front leg is sticking out too far and it just pokes back into formation haha that’s awsome, then the whole leaning really far left and really far right at 2:37 to 2:47…

very cool

and your code gave me a headache xan

LOL, Wait until you see my next version. The calculation speed is way up and the readability is way down

Make it all stop!

I’ll be getting in touch with you as I have a 4 channel receiver I’m going to be using rather then the ps2 remote so, I’ll be thinking of some creative ways to make it to the same things your phoenix is doing.

and the rest of my $700 dollars worth of robot parts show up at my door.
