I am look for miniature (small) caster wheels and noticed the ones below(see links) that may fit what I am looking for. The only thing is that the description doesn’t mention what the parts are made of. For example, the rolling ball, is it stainless steel? The housing(casing)? Not sure what’s inside the casing, well, what is that made of? Reason is that what I will use it for can get “hot” and do not want anything that is not good when hot. Example, zinc plated steel can be bad for you if temperature is high, is my understanding. If some parts (example - washer) that are removable are not suitable, I can exchange that piece with somethinnf else (example, stainless steel washer), so no problem.
If the below parts are not suitable, can you provide me with something that just might be suitable?
I don’t know about those. Those balls don’t look like metal to me. If RobotShop.com doesn’t have what you need, try googling “stud mounted ball transfer” for some similar alternatives. 12mm should be large enough that you would have a good variety. If you can consider multiple screws for mounting around the perimeter, just drop the “stud mounted” part of the search.
Regarding the heat, any all metal design should be fine, as long as you aren’t talking about temps above 200ºF, which is well into the extreme operating environment category. Any all steel designs should be fine for most purposes, though.
If you are designing for temps that could soften plastic or cause fumes to be created by components or the environment, we would need to have an entirely different discussion.
@ADP02 Welcome to the RobotShop Community. Not easy to make suggestions without knowing your application. With this in mind, Pololu has a range of small plastic ball casters, and there is often the option of using a small omniwheel instead of a ball caster. https://www.robotshop.com/en/robot-wheel.html?general_brand[]=Pololu
