Pan Tilt kit for Dslr Camera

Hi, I was wondering what servos would you recommand for a hitec DDT560? It would have to pan at least 180 degrees and tilt about 50degrees. the weight of my dslr is about 1kg.

Thanks for your time

Thanks for your reply. I will be using a Nikon D80 for this application therefore am i right to say i should get:
Tilt: HS-645MG Servo Motor
Pan: ServoCity 5:1 Tube-arm Gearbox for HS-785HB Servo
Load Bearing Servo Block (Hitec)
HS-645MG Servo Motor

Thanks for your time!

The DDT560 has the advantage of rotating the camera about its center of mass, which significantly reduces the torque required. For a small camera, you’d only need a 422, and for a slightly larger camera, you might play it safe and use the 645MG for the tilt. For the rotation, it’s important to note that ServoCity recently changed their hole pattern, and the new pattern uses 0.77" spaced mounting holes. The tilt mechanism can either be mounted on a servo power gear box, a load bearing servo block or directly to a servo horn using the 0.77" servo hub horn. We’d suggest against direct mounting since it puts all the weight on the servo’s output gear.

Not quite - you still need the DDT560 plus the 645MG. For the base rotate, you need EITHER the 5:1 gearbox OR the load bearing servo block. For the 5:1 gearbox, you will also need a 785HB servo (not included) while for the load bearing servo block, you’ll need a second 645MG servo.

Tilt: DDT560 + 645MG servo
Pan option 1: 5:1 gearbox + 785HB servo
Pan option 2: load bearing servo block + 645MG servo
