Paddleboard propulsion T200

Hello, I would like to add a T200 to my paddleboard. I saw your video on youtube where you put two thrusters. I have a few questions, if I only want it to go straight:

  1. Can I connect the T200 directly to a battery and add an on/off switch without a ESC or controller?

  2. I don’t want the thruster to do the job for me, I just a little help when going upstream. Can 1 thruster be enough?

  3. What battery would be the best?

Thank you for your help.

Hello @Cv90!

Welcome to the forums!

You absolutely need an ESC to control this thruster since it’s motor is brushless. This type of motor requires a controller to send current between it’s 3 phases in a specific order to turn.

It all depends on how much help you want. A single thruster can develop 3.55 kgf of thrust at 12V and 5.1 kgf of thrust at 16V. A single thruster can certainly move you through water.

I would suggest a 4S (14.8V) Lithium-Polymer (LiPo) battery for this as they are capable of delivering large amount of current while being very small. Example:

I hope this helps!
