P16 Actuator Not Moving

Howdy y’all,

For some reason, when I send a PWM signal to my LAC, my actuator doesn’t move. Can someone explain to me what is wrong with my setup?

Note: My board is being powered by a 12.5 V 13mA power supply, and I am using the PWM pin (Pin 18) on my Raspberry Pi. I can confirm through an LED check, that a PWM signal is being produced.

Hi @troybaxter99,

Which actuator are you using?

Was this configuration working before or not from the start?

13mA power supply? Or this is a typing mistake?

Thanks.

Howdy y’all,

I am currently running into issues with my LAC and it not powering on. As you can see in the picture, I have a P16 Series actuator and a 12V (12.334 V measured) battery packed wired up to the LAC. However, for some reason whenever I plug it into my computer to use the Actuonix LAC Configuration Utility, all I get is a “Device Not Detected” Error. The weird part about all of this is that I had my linear actuator and the LAC working about a week and a half ago before it stopped altogether today when I tried to run it again. Can anyone help me?

Note: I have already reinstalled the Actuonix LAC Configuration Utility along with the corresponding drivers as designated in a Windows 8.1 pdf that was shared on a different forum post.

Here’s a close up view of the LAC. As you can see, the LED is not on.

I am using a P16 actuator from Actuonix. The power supply is providing 12.5 V to the board, but it just happens that the current output is reading 13mA.

I have gotten the actuator to move before using this very LAC, and I believe the wiring is correct to what it was before, but I could be wrong. I’m just completely lost because the Datasheet says to use the VC pin on the X6 connector for PWM signals.

Hi @troybaxter99

Thank you for your reply.

Did you check if actuator itself is working properly and not defective?

If you apply 12V DC to actuator does it extends or retracts?

I can confirm the actuator works. I tested it with a ADC and I can confirm it moves. However, whenever I supply PWMs to the LAC, nothing moves.

Hi @troybaxter99

Are you using 1KHz PWM signal? Or this is different?

Thanks.

the PWM signal is set to 1kHz on the Raspberry Pi.

Hi @troybaxter99,

Maybe this is the root cause:
